How the game fizzled out
Charalampos Kostoulas opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and Malick Yalcouye extended the lead just after the start of the second half. Two minutes later came the complete collapse: a straight red card for Taiwo Awoniyi for an elbow, and with one less player, the sky fell apart.
Pascal Gross 's penalty , Lewis Dunk 's long-range strike, and Yasin Ayari 's stoppage-time goal completed the 0-5 scoreline. The second play, according to Lampard, was the worst: "a mistake you can't make at this level."
We have to be realistic in this league. They're a good team. If you think about it up until the red card, we had some good moments, but with ten men it was a different game. The players gave their all, but we have to understand that these are the levels we need to reach.

Lampard appeals to hard work, not pity.
The former England midfielder avoided playing the victim and recalled the grueling schedule at the start of the season: “We're four games in, having already played our two toughest matches away from home (Arsenal and Manchester City). We have to keep working. It's more pressure, and many players haven't experienced it before.”
Lampard even compared the result: “I was more disappointed with the Hull game than I was with today. Brighton were very clinical.” The thrashing equals the worst defeat of his managerial career.
