Surridge Ruins Messi and “Chucky” Lozano’s Night: Experience the Bitter Side: MLS Recap
Sam Surridge stole the show from Lionel Messi with a stoppage-time brace for Nashville against Inter Miami. Sixteen-year-old Cavan Sullivan dazzled with a backheel chip in Philadelphia's rout. And in San Diego, Hirving "Chucky" Lozano's bench is sounding the alarm after a 5-0 defeat.

MLS enters its decisive two months, and the weekend delivered plenty of drama. Lionel Messi painted a masterpiece, complete with an assist from Rodrigo De Paul and a stunning goal from outside the box, to put Inter Miami up 2-1 against Nashville. It seemed all but over.
Surridge spoils Messi's party in stoppage time
BJ Callaghan's Nashville SC refused to give up and continued to hammer away at the fragile home defense. In the first minute of stoppage time, Sam Surridge appeared to complete his brace and secure a 2-2 draw. The Englishman now has 15 goals , four behind Messi in the race for the league's Golden Boot.
The celebration between De Paul, Messi, and Luis Suárez after the 2-1 goal told the story: this was a match Miami wanted to win at all costs. Their lack of defensive solidity in the box once again cost them dearly, and Nashville, without the financial resources of the Florida team, now holds a nine-point lead in the East.
Surridge tied the duel with Messi goal for goal: 15 goals for the Englishman against those of the Argentine in the race for the Golden Boot.

Cavan Sullivan, the 16-year-old phenomenon demanding a call-up
In San Diego, everything happened. The Philadelphia Union thrashed their opponents 5-0, and Cavan Sullivan scored a spectacular brace: first, a backheel inside the box to break the deadlock in first-half stoppage time, and then a shot that included a nutmeg on goalkeeper Duran Ferree.
The 16-year-old has 15 goal contributions this season, most of them since his brace at the World Cup. In Philadelphia, they're no longer just talking about a promising talent: they're calling for his immediate call-up to Mauricio Pochettino's USMNT.

Mexican concern: the “Chucky” Lozano case
For Mexican soccer, the most unsettling story comes from San Diego. Coach Mikey Varas has sidelined Hirving “Chucky” Lozano , and the experiment only works if the team wins without him. That's not happening: the Californians are barely clinging to a playoff spot, and the 5-0 loss to Philadelphia was a brutal blow.
If San Diego misses the postseason, Varas' position will become untenable and the future of the Mexican, who arrived as a major reinforcement, will be a winter issue.
